Pharm.D (PB) โ€” Doctor of Pharmacy (Post Baccalaureate)

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) is a 3-year lateral-entry doctoral programme in pharmacy designed exclusively for candidates who have already completed B.Pharm. The course was introduced by the Pharmacy Council of India under the Pharm.D Regulations, 2008 to enable practising pharmacists and graduates to upgrade to a clinical doctoral qualification.

The programme covers two years of academic study (4th & 5th Pharm.D years) followed by one year of compulsory internship/residency in a tertiary care hospital. Graduates are awarded the Doctor of Pharmacy degree and are eligible to register as clinical pharmacists in India and abroad.

The curriculum focuses on patient-centred care, pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacokinetics, clinical research, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical toxicology โ€” preparing the pharmacist as a key member of the healthcare team.

Clinical Training

ELIMS College of Pharmacy has an MOU with Daya General Hospital Ltd, Thrissur and Speciality Surgical Centre, Thrissur where Pharm.D (PB) candidates undergo hands-on clinical clerkship and internship under the supervision of clinical preceptors and consultants.

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed B.Pharm from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 are eligible for direct admission to the fourth year of the Pharm.D programme (Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate).

How to Apply

Admission is regulated by the Kerala University of Health Sciences and the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Kerala. 50% Merit seats are filled through the rank list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations; the remaining 50% Management quota is filled by the Kerala State Self Financing Pharmacy College Management Association (KSSPCMA).
